David is currently a graduate student in the Philosophy Department at the University of Oregon. His research includes masculinity and gender studies, social and economic justice, continental philosophy, and critical theory. He holds bachelors degrees from the University of Florida in Criminal Justice and Criminology and from Florida International University in Philosophy.
After the events of September 11th, 2001, David felt compelled to give back and joined the Army, serving as an infantry paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and went on to serve 2 tours, in Afghanistan and Iraq. Following his service, David went on to teach middle and high school Philosophy, using his experiences to encourage his students to question and explore justice issues. His experiences in the Army, along with his commitment to philosophy, social justice, and education are the inspiration for this site.
David served in C co. 2/505 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division from January 2002 to January 2006. This photograph was taken in Afghanistan July 2003.
